UCI professor Kathleen Treseder of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology cofounded the grassroots group OC Clean Power, and Kathleen successfully advocated for the Irvine City Council to establish renewable energy programs. She's proven herself as a progressive Green New Deal champion in her activism. The Treseder Lab at UCI studies Fungi, soil functions and how soil microcrobial ecosystems impact climate change and carbon fixation. Her expertise will greatly inform the cIty's climate legislation.
She's the only councilmember candidate to pledge to put Green New Deal scale legislation. She'll pass bills on widespread public infrastructure, de-carbonization and make Irvine a leader in climate action. She will also advocate for clean energy and good climate jobs. She is also endorsed by the Democratic Party.
